Projects and Interest
There are many exciting projects and interest points about the Games which will transform them from a sporting event into a festival atmosphere celebrating life.
"Our Victory" to Debut at the Games Opening Ceremony
by John Foreman and Tania Doko.jpg)
One of the major highlights of the 17th World Transplant Games is the involvement of renowned Australian musicians John Foreman and Tania Doko. If you watched the Olympic Opening Ceremony in Sydney 2000 or Australian Idol, you would have heard John Foreman originals. If you have hummed along to the catchy ‘Permission to Shine’ or seen the ARIA Music Awards, Tania Doko, lead singer of Bachelor Girl will come to mind.
John and Tania were inspired to write the song about the journey of organ and tissue donation and transplantation, and the victories achieved along the way to make it to the World Transplant Games. Tania is an ambassador for Transplant Australia and was moved to support organ and tissue donation after meeting double lung transplant recipient Michelle Ashby (our poster girl for the Games).
The song is available for purchase on CD at the Games Merchandise Shop. It will be public after the Opening Ceremony on August 23.

David’s story begins on March 12, 1989 when he has a massive heart attack. He tells of his nearly fatal episode of heart arrhythmia and the stress of having an implantable defibrillator in his abdomen for twenty months. He struggles to accept that his chance for a miracle transplant can only occur when another person dies. David receives a new heart in 1991 and he tells how it has affected him and his family. Mr. NewHeart continues through the following years of blessing and challenge. David’s story is one of faith in God, courage, endurance, victory, and miracles.
